Hangzhou...a place worth going - 2005-10-26

The trip to Hangzhou was so so amazing! Hangzhou is a scenic place for people who like to enjoy God”¦s creation! This short trip was a refresher despite combing the place with much haste. There were 6 of us touring with 40 other people travelling to Hangzhou for 2 days and 1 night. You could see the different culture between Shanghai and Beijing as there were different types of people travelling with us. Shanghainese are mainly very loud people while Beijing-ians are refined and friendly.
Alright, let me start by telling you to the places we went. We had an adventure into a cave, visited an historical and cultural place where the scenery was splendid, went into a temple called Lei Feng Ta, climbed a hill and lastly, went to Xi hu (west lake) for more pictures! In between, we had pit stops to ying cha (drink tea for free) and look at how quality silk is produced.
In the cave, I was so amazed at the beauty of how these caves were formed. As I walked in, I could see how the stone aged or grew. There were some that had crystals growing on them like sand on the beach. It”¦s a pity these fine crystals can”¦t be caught on a photo. There were also stone/rock that were growing, they looked like sweet potatoes growing above your head.. hehe.. some looked like a half grown potato. We were also asked to figure out the shape of the stone. Some looked like eagles, monk, guan ying statue, long mai (some body parts of a dragon) and lots more”K
Another place that is worth going again is Xi Hu, I love the scenery there, too bad we missed the morning mist and sunrise”K I wish I could upload some pics here as a picture says a thousands words”K I had lots of fun! There were also funny incidents. I”¦ll just share one with you. We went to this place like a temple where you can ”„chou qian”¦ [fortune telling] and there are 8 different types of qian to chou from. They include ”„qing”¦ [love], ”„ying”¦ [marriage], ”„zi”¦ [kids/son],”¦chai”¦ [wealth], ”„fu”¦ [abundance], ”„shi”¦ [wisdom], one for career and one last one. One of my fren was about to put her hand into ”„ying”¦ and the lady in charge said: ”§those who are married take yin, not married take qing. Then she took the qing”K haha”K it seemed funny then. There”¦s another one tt”¦s more funny! Another friend took ”„fu”¦ because she thought it was ”„xing fu”¦ happiness. Then when she walked to the interpretor, he asked who she was taking the qian for”K then my fren answered herself. After that the interpretor said you took a wrong qian, this qian is for the older generation to reap abundance and enjoy their old age”Koh wells..
At pit stops, we were taught how to choose grade the different types of tea leaves. The good ones are fried with hands only and they are like rolled up nicely of consistent size. Then there was this elderly man who fried tea leaves for almost all of his life. Thus his hands were very smooth”K we also were taught tt tea leaves can be used for eye relaxation and for washing face! So I bought a bottle of gu niang cha for these purpose! I also bought pillows made out of tea leaves. They say it”¦ll prevent or cure headaches, backaches and stuff. Duno if it”¦s true anot”K I”¦m using it now and sometimes the fragrance of the tea leaves can be empowering.
Another pit stop was at the silk place where we were taught how to differentiate good silk. Silk can be stretch for very long”K more than a metre long”K and when stretch, it”¦s shiny and when burnt it should turn to ash at an instant! All rite”K enuf of Hangzhou”K
I want to thank God for last Friday where it was Valerie”¦s first time saying a prayer! Although it”¦s not the sinners”¦prayer, but it”¦s a good start for a pre-believer to take a step of faith. If I”¦m not wrong, Valerie and Joanne would be following us to church this week again so do keep them in prayer k? I also wanna practice Lifestyle 5-3-1”K but I pray tt it”¦ll be a 5-3-3. There”¦s exactly 5 people to target for evangelism. Okie”K take care guys”K
